Resources and Tools:

Providence St. Peter Hospital has developed a short pamphlet that was used to recruit members to the Safe Committee and Safe Patient Handling Sub-Committee. Join Your Employee Safety & Health Committee has been very effective in recruiting new members from a variety of backgrounds to the committee. They have created a set of criteria for the safety representatives at their hospital. The Safety Coordinator Responsibilities provides a set of goals, general responsibilities and policies for members of the committee. A variation of these documents can be used at your hospital to recruit appropriate members to your hospital's Safe Patient Handling Committee. Please contact Dan.Donahue@providence.org for more information.

Swedish Medical Center developed a Safe Patient Handling Committee Representative Information sheet to announce what the goals of the committee will be and the role members will play in carrying out the provisions of the law.
